10th Meath Scout Group welcome Chief Scout

From comms

A wonderful memorable evening was held recently in Skryne when the Scout Group had great pleasure in welcoming Scouting Ireland’s Chief Scout Mr Christy mc Cann to our Parent & Friend Agm. Our hall looked suitably resplendent with immaculate uniforms and flagpoles carrying National, County and Group Flags. Thanks to our wonderful Co Secretary Colette Boyd who joined us from the Co Mgt Team complete with Flag and projector. On the night the buzz as Christy presented the

Chief Scout Award to 5 enthusiastic dedicated fun loving cub scouts who have moved up to the scout section in the Group was palpable. Parents who joined us on the night listened avidly as they heard how active the different sections have been during the past year. A  brilliant slideshow treated everyone to more than a year’s photographic memories which had lots giggles and the occasional gasp from the audience as it played.

On the night Peter Minchin from Cystic Fibrosis Ireland received a fundraising cheque from the participants of a sponsored 20k hike which took place on a cold Saturday last summer.  James Fox  G.S.F spoke in appreciation of all the activities and events that the group had accomplished during the past year and emphasised that having lots of FUN along the way was key to successful activities and happy scouts. He also said that it was through the encouragement of leaders to parents and the wider community that new people are invited to see how the dynamic of sections work before they commit to volunteering their time and energy to the group.

The Parents were thanked for their presence and showed their appreciation with a tumultuous round of applause for all the Scouters and the AGM was closed at this point. Everyone enjoyed refreshments which our Scouts had displayed with all their culinary expertise with an abundance of cakes being enjoyed with a cuppa as everyone chatted about the night. With his typical good humour Seamus Farrelly ensured everyone was very relaxed as he took great photographs which we will have as lasting memories of a brilliant night .
